6 Simple steps that lead to happiness

Happiness is such a natural phenomenon that has existed in humanity since time immemorial. However today’s stressful life has made it difficult for many people to experience this happiness. So here are some steps that will help you experience some happiness in life.

1.
The first thing you have to do is to relax and not to take life too seriously. With stress, you begin to experience many problems in life. However if you keep on worrying about all this, you lose an interest in life and fail to admire the beauty of life that passes by you. Learn to laugh at things worth laughing. You can start by devoting some time for yourself at the end of the day to recollect and cherish the day’s events.

2. Learn to smile. You will be surprised with the positivism a smile brings to your life and mood. Once you smile, and even force a laugh, you find your mood lighten up. Moreover, once you ‘learn’ to smile, you need not force yourself to laugh the next time. Remember that laughter is a great, positive medicine. Learn to face whatever situation you face in life with a smile or grin; things look lighter and easier to overpass this way.

3. Learn to be grateful for what you have and what you are today. Once you start thinking about how you unpopular you are, how you are not good at doing things and how unattractive you are you start developing a lot of negativity in yourself. Instead, look around yourself and appreciate how lucky you are for all the things you have. There are many people in the world who don’t have the family, house, money or vehicle you have; remember this and life will look much better to you.

4. Do what you enjoy doing in life. There is no point in joining jobs that pay well if you don’t enjoy doing it. You end up despising going to work, and will have no productivity at all from your side. Instead, pursue a career in something you are good at, have an uncanny knack for or perhaps in your hobby. This way life looks a lot rosier to you, and you in turn start feeling much happier than before.

5. Make it a point to dance, sing and laugh as much as possible everyday. There may or may not be a reason; just do it. If you are not in the mood for it, just put on the radio and you will automatically start appreciating the music and feel relaxed and much happier with life.

6. Learn to forgive and forget and not to hold grudges against anyone. Don’t become overwhelmed with anger, sorrow or wrath on someone else. There is no point in doing this as it only deteriorates your health and makes you feeling ‘down in the dumps’. Instead, clarify matters, remember that it is human to err and forgive others and learn to concentrate on the much better things in life.

All these steps will help you develop a better attitude towards life, and to enjoy life. And once you are happy, happiness spreads to everyone around you to give more meaning to life.

8 Tips for handling defeat

Life is full of ups and downs. When unexpected things occur, which lead to defeat in life, you feel dejected and depressed and just don’t know what to do next with life. Though you may get ‘help’ from those around you, the real help you can use is the help from within yourself.

Once you learn to handle all this defeat, and recover from these defeats, you will be successful in achieving happiness in life. Here are  some tips to remember to face defeat in life.

1.    The first thing to remember when in difficult times is to keep walking forward in life, with one foot in front of the other. Don’t just stop there as everything in life has an end, and this difficult period too will end. Stopping in the midway will only add to your depression. So instead, develop a positive attitude to life as you know that this phase in your life will also pass pretty soon.

2.    Reaching this phase is the most important step to handling defeat. Once this is accomplished, you have to recall any spiritual exercises that had worked to give you positive results in the past. Think of that single and particular exercise that regenerated optimism in life, and thus helps you to latch on to it and use it in handling this defeat of life.

3.    Sometimes, thinking of any favorite heroes or heroines you have in your life helps in overcoming defeat. Think of the reasons you consider them to be your favorite heroes and heroines, and then how you think they would have handled your difficult situation.

4.    You could also learn some pointers from saints, leaders and other people you have heard about, who have managed to go through a very difficult time in life. This will help you go through life by overcoming this defeat of yours. Even talking to a minister, priest or spiritual adviser can work to help handle defeat.

5.    The next tip is to talk to a good friend. By talking to them, you feel your mind and heart getting much lighter. Just talking and opening up so that you pour out your feelings is important in developing a positive attitude in life, and to overcome defeat.

6.    You could go for a funny movie by yourself or your friend for a change and to get a few laughs. Laughing is good therapy to overcome defeat as it helps make you feel better.

7.    Remember that to overcome and handle defeat, you have to learn to first get up each time you fall. Lying down there will in no way help in overcoming defeat. This indicates that you have to be active in life. Work out as physical exercise helps in relaxing you, after all the stress you are going through. Eat healthy food and follow a healthy diet as too much of fat and toxins only add to the burden your heart is already going through.

8.    As touch is helpful in fighting defeat, give someone a hug. You will feel much better after doing this. All these tips are simple tips that anyone and everyone should adapt to come out of a defeat and to face life afresh, once again.
