7 tips for effectively focus your attention

It is very important to learn to manage your attention as it is only with the right attention management you will be able to succeed in life. To master manage attention, you have to first understand it.

Attention is something that you have limited amount to spend. It is self-reinforcing where the more attention you pay on something, the more attention you tend to develop for it. By paying attention to something positive, all your attention gets absorbed into the task where you achieve maximum productivity. However if you pay attention to something negative, you may end up in a cycle that leads to something terrible like depression.

1. Be aware of where your attention is placed

To get the most of attention, you have to keep a watch on yourself to find out how you focus your attention. This is important as it is human nature to pay attention to unnecessary things, without any proper control on this attention.

2. Get rid of negative attention

If you realize that you are paying attention to something negative, you have to discontinue this immediately before it reinforces itself once again. This can be done by moving your attention to something which is more positive.

Be careful of leaks that pull your attention, and leads to lower productivity on your part. These leaks can be distractions and interruptions that take the focus of your attention to wrong places. So prevent them to get the most of your attention.

6. More attention to things giving maximum returns

You have to learn to focus your attention on matters that give you maximum returns in exchange for this focus. This is where the 80/20 rule is very helpful where 20% of the cause gives 80% of effects. So pay attention on spending your attention on the top 20% of things that give maximum returns.

7. Learn when to stop focusing attention

After paying attention on something and receiving positive results, there is a point where you results you receive starts decreasing. At a point, the results start decreasing, and you tend to turn your attention to something else. This is actually the point where you have to stop focusing attention; and it is important that you realize this.
